Churchill Families,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Churchill High School.  As we enjoy our long summer days, I want to take a few moments and welcome back our returning families while introducing myself to our new families at Churchill High School.

My name is Kevin Etue and as the proud principal of Churchill High School, I look forward to meeting and serving all of our community members.  As an educator who stems from a family of educators, I have enjoyed wonderful, meaningful, and impactful experiences in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (Charlotte, NC), Novi Community Schools, and my last 15 years with Livonia Public Schools.  Whether it was teaching at Stevenson High School and The Livonia Career Technical Center, coaching football and girls’ basketball at Churchill High School, or working as an assistant principal at Churchill, I cherish the positive relationships with the staff, students, parents, and community alike.

Churchill is a place where we pride ourselves on strong partnerships between the home and school and where all staff members are committed to developing the whole child.  Our expert staff continues their dedication in preparing your child for college and the next stages of life by instilling and enhancing our Livonia Public Schools’ Community with Character traits of mindfulness, empathy, grit, integrity, confidence, respect, responsibility, and reflection.  Additionally, the special programs at Churchill High School; such as CAPA, MSC, Center, ASD, club offerings, and strong athletic, musical, and theatrical programs add to the comprehensive education your child can receive.  It truly is a privilege and honor to be the principal of a school community that offers so much and is on the precipice of celebrating 50 years.

Again, this summer, we ask that you pardon our dust as we complete an 18-month construction project which includes a new main entrance, new cafeteria serving lines, updated building and classroom technology (wireless infrastructure, Chromebook carts, and tablets), improved classroom functionality (teaching walls with built-in technology, lighting, and student seating), state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, and renovated athletic facilities.  We are incredibly excited to show off all that is new with Churchill High School and cannot wait for our students to benefit from your generosity.  Thank you Charger Nation!

In addition to building strong relationships and establishing rigorous academic practices, it is important to make sure your child and you feel safe at school.  If you   ever have a question, comment, or concern, please do not hesitate to email or call me.  Communication between the school and home is vital to your child’s success.  I encourage you to reach out to your student’s teachers, counselor, assistant principal, or myself with any questions.  I welcome you to stop by and meet me the next time you are at Churchill.

With Charger Pride,

Kevin Etue
