MACAT Nominations for Fall 2019

Thank you for your interest in the Middle School Alternative Classrooms for the Academically Talented Program (MACAT) for the fall of 2019. The LPS MACAT Program is housed at Frost Middle School.

If the student is currently in 6th grade and attending an LPS school, then applying to MACAT requires completing the short nomination form and submitting the student Letter of Intent essay. If the student is not attending an LPS school or is not in 6th grade, do not use the online nomination form.

The online nomination form is available by clicking the menu option at the left. Please note that parents of 6th grade LPS students who are eligible to be nominated for the MACAT Program for the fall of 2019 will be notified in late January or early February 2019 via a mailed letter. If you believe that you should have received this letter and did not receive it, please contact Doug Coates, MACAT Facilitator, at 734-744-2670 ext. 37967, or by email at dcoates@livoniapublicschools.org

If you would prefer a paper copy of the nomination form instead, please contact Doug Coates, MACAT Facilitator, at the phone number or email address listed above.

The nomination form and Letter of Intent are both due by Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Late nominations are not usually accepted.

Students living in the Livonia Public Schools School District but not currently attending an LPS school can be nominated for the MACAT Program. However, the online nomination form cannot be used. Academic testing is required to determine eligibility. Please contact Doug Coates at the phone number or email address listed above to receive a non-LPS student nomination form. Due to the testing that is required, non-LPS students must submit their nomination materials by January 10, 2019. The testing for non-LPS students will be conducted on Friday afternoon, January 18.

Non-district resident nominations are accepted in some years. If the student is not a resident of the Livonia Public Schools School District and is interested in the MACAT Program, please contact Doug Coates, MACAT Facilitator, at the phone number or email address listed above.
