Math Science Computer MSC
FALL 2024 INFORMATION
The Livonia Public Schools Math/Science/Computer Program (MSC), located at Churchill High School, is a four year program. The MSC Program has the purpose of providing a 9th-12th grade math/science/computer science concentration to students who have a high level of achievement and interest in the areas of math and science. Thirty students are selected for the incoming 9th grade class. Students must have completed Algebra 1 by the end of 8th grade in order to apply for MSC for 9th grade. Applications are normally only accepted for the incoming 9th grade class.
The curriculum is specifically designed for students who have an intense interest in math, science, and computer science. The courses are taught at a faster pace and in greater depth. The Advanced Placement (AP) Program gives students the opportunity to pursue college-level studies and receive advanced placement and/or course credit upon entering college. In the MSC program, AP courses are required in Biology, Chemistry, Physics: Mechanics, Physics: Electricity & Magnetism, Computer Science Principles, Computer Science A (coding), Calculus (BC version), and Statistics. Students in the MSC program take their MSC courses as a prescribed curriculum and select their remaining courses from the Churchill High School course offerings available to all CHS students. All MSC students are full time students at Churchill High School. Transportation to Churchill for MSC students is provided by LPS for students who live in the Franklin HS and Stevenson HS attendance areas.
Parents of 8th grade LPS students who fit the Algebra eligibility guideline above will be notified in late October 2024 of the opportunity for the student to apply to the MSC Program for fall 2025.
